Ever wonder how a swim class turned into an underwater headphone company? Here's a little more about us.

Zygo didn't start as a headphone company. It started as a swim class. The founders wanted to make swimming less boring and figured audio might be the answer. Zygo the product came later.

Bluetooth dies in one inch of water. One. Inch. Basically nothing. That's why every underwater headphone before Zygo required downloading music files onto the device. Not anymore…

Zygo uses RF, not Bluetooth. RF (radio frequency) is what allowed the founders to build a streaming solution that works just as well underwater as it does above. RF is why your phone can stay on the deck and your headset can still play whatever's on it.

Engineers told the founders it couldn't be built. Multiple times. The physics of transmitting audio through water is hard. Most attempts failed. And we're all very happy they finally found the answer.

TIME named Zygo a Best Invention of 2022. And that was a really, really good day around here.
