QWSTION is well known for its research driven, material based approach to product design – and our flagship store regularly showcases likeminded projects and brands. For this year’s Zurich Design Weeks we are presenting ‘Material Arguments’, an exhibit by the MA Industrial Design programme at Zurich’s University of Arts (ZhdK) showing three projects that challenge material as a resource.

Join us for the vernissage on September 18th, at 6 p.m. – a short panel talk at 7 p.m. will be dedicated to the role of material in the future of design, with the following participants:

The show aims to challenge the notion of material as a resource with its origin subtracted and its usefulness predetermined. Each project takes a material's source — the animal, the ground, the process behind it — as the actual site of design work. None of the projects proposes a solution, but rather an argument for a different way of practicing design – one that is based on where materials actually come from.
