WWM: Montreal

The next stop on the world wide movement.

"The marathon feels like a proper tour from its start in Parc Jean-Drapeau across the island. A spectacular view of the city which you then enter, navigating the streets and boulevards sprawling across the urban landscape towards your final destination in Parc Maisonneuve, set with a backdrop of the Olympic Stadium. All along the way, amongst the atmosphere of cheers, you will hear one of my favourite phrases of encouragement: 'lâche pas la patate' or simply 'lâche pas.' A Québécois expression meaning don't give up, hang in there, keep going. The literal translation: 'don't drop the potato!'"

Bernard sees running as a bridge as much as a sport — a way to connect people across backgrounds and generations, breaking down the boxes we put ourselves in. His focus is on access: making sure more people get to experience that same connection, something he's lived firsthand after running last year's Marathon de Montréal.

Montreal. October 11th. The next stop on the world wide movement.
