Freefly In Action

GCAM TV - Astro + LR1

GCAM TV is working with Freefly Astro to bring a new perspective to live NFL broadcasts, capturing the action from above with the reliability and performance needed in this high-pressure live production environment.

Paired with the Sony LR1, Astro delivers stunning full-frame aerial footage while giving the crew the confidence to get the shot when it matters most.

Ember News

L-Mount cameras and L-Mount Upgrades are in stock and ready to ship! Bringing one of the largest lens libraries to Ember to make capturing incredible moments easier than ever.

We're also releasing some new options to help customers get exactly what they need.

Ember 3.0 firmware
- Increased Frame Rates (936FPS in 4096x2160)
- Support for L-Mount Alliance lenses
- Aperture Control while recording through the GUI on active mount lenses (EF and L-Mount)
- Power Consumption reduction by 6.5%
- Release Notes
Ember bodies without a lens mount
- These Ember S5K & S2.5K options will ship with a 4TB internal SSD and a body cap. You can pick your own lens mount from our store, or find something specialized for your work.
- Availability - S5K is available now. S2.5K will be available early next week.
Ember S2.5K without WiFi
- We've had several requests for Ember cameras without WiFi, for folks with data security concerns. This version of the S2.5K has the WiFi hardware completely removed, not just disabled.
- The functionality is identical to a standard camera, minus the wireless app options. But you can still connect to it with a phone and USB cable or a network connection. This will be perfect for federal, or otherwise data sensitive customers.
- Availability - These will be available to order and in stock by the end of September.

Alta X Gen1 End of Life

Alta X Gen1 established the foundation of our modern heavy lift platform. We released Alta X Gen2 to carry the legacy forward, and now it's time to shut down the original production line and grow Gen2 production.

Standard and International Alta X Gen1 systems are now sold out, and a limited number of NDAA-compliant Alta X Gen1 systems remain. Service and support will continue for at least another two years, but likely longer.

If you have a customer that specifically needs a first generation NDAA Alta X (950-00164), grab one while supplies last—they’ll leave our store and website when inventory runs out or on October 1, whichever comes first.

Books We Love

Here at Freefly, we have our fair share of aviation nuts, so when one of our favorite customers shares a book about their own deep roots in the field, it’s a must read. A History of the USDA Forest Service Aviation Program details their extraordinary journey of incorporating aircraft in firefighting from the early 1900s to the early 2020s. We hope you enjoy it, too.
