Every object in SANCTUARY begins as a drawing by artist and Head of Design Joel Adler and Troye Sivan in Carlton. The design then goes through multiple rounds of refinement as a physical prototype, before it is sent to a workshop in Sydney, where it is hand-cast in a slow and beautifully imperfect process.

The negative is shaped into the mould.
The molten metal is poured.
The mould is broken to release the form.

A process of heat, grit, grind and mass. From there, each metal is treated with a different finish to highlight its natural qualities.

STAINLESS STEEL is buffed to a semi-reflective finish, subtly reflecting the room around it.

BRASS is rumbled en masse, resulting in hundreds of dents to create a smooth yet hammered finish.

ALUMINIUM is mirror polished and finished by hand.

TLY casts objects in some of Australia's oldest foundries, working with craftspeople who have spent decades mastering the processes.

Designed by troye sivan in CARLTON, AU
