I can’t share this enough… what vessel you drink your tea out of is just as important the tea itself.

Here are the two vessels I use.

The Dew Drop Cup — for working days.

This is the one I take to the studio, or to my coworking desk. It’s a single glass cup with a built-in strainer, so I can drop in whole flowers, a blooming green, or a scoop of Bloom+Balance, pour hot water, and go. No teapot to babysit, no second vessel to wash. The strainer holds everything back so I get a clean sip while the flowers keep opening. It’s my everyday cup. If you’re going to own one piece of tea equipment, this is it.

The Bloom Teapot and a small sipping cup — for slower days.

This is the one I actually love. When I work from home, or on the weekend, I pull out the Bloom teapot and a little sipping cup with the gold rim and I make it a thing. The teapot is clear glass, so I can watch the whole flower unfurl and drift while I pour, that part is why I made it in the first place. I LOVE the act of pouring and admiring the flower in the water while I sip out of the small cup. The Bloom teapot is beautiful. I use both, and if you ask me which one I reach for on a the weekend, it’s always the teapot.

Why this matters more than I used to think.

I spent the earlier years of The Qi focused on the tea. I thought the vessel was a nice extra. I was wrong. The vessel is how you experience the flowers. A whole rose in a black ceramic mug is a waste of a rose… Imagine going to a Rose garden at midnight where you can’t see anything… You don’t get the full experience. You can’t watch it open. The whole reason I sell whole flowers instead of tea dust is so you can see what’s in your cup and if the cup hides it, you’re missing the main show.
