The Story Behind the Altira Short SHOP THE ALTIRA

THE OBJECTIVE: build a short that disappears at race pace while carrying everything you need for 26.2. Here's how we developed it.

Prototype 1: The Gel Problem The ultralight fabric was an immediate win, but the gel pockets needed refinement to keep fuel secure over technical terrain. The lesson: accessibility means nothing if you lose your nutrition mid-run.

Prototype 2: The Capacity Issue We opened the side split further for range of motion and tightened the pockets. Progress—but now only two gels fit per pocket. Not enough for a full marathon if you're fueling properly. The lesson: storage capacity matters as much as security.

Prototype 3: Finding The Balance Modified pocket size to accommodate three gels per pocket. Tight enough not to fly out, accessible enough to grab mid-stride without breaking form. The test: 6 min miles on a treadmill, shooting slow-motion video to analyze bounce and fabric movement. It held.

Prototype 4-5: The Final Refinements Minor drawcord modifications and final fit adjustments. The result: an ultralight race short that disappears when you put it on. Easy access to gels and phone. The lightest, fastest short in our lineup.

The Altira Short → Split construction for unrestricted movement. → "Quickdraw" gel pockets that secure three gels per side without bounce. → Ultralight 4-way stretch that carries 7x its weight at full sprint. → Acrofuse™ seam technology for zero chafing. ADD IT TO YOUR KIT
